About me
Dr. Malhotra is a dedicated teacher in all settings and has consistently demonstrated her commitment to excellence in education of medical students and residents. She currently serves as Regional chair, core faculty for the UAB Huntsville Family Medicine Department and residency program. She demonstrates educational scholarship through her several national presentations and publications central to the discipline of family medicine and through her curriculum development activities. She also served as a Clerkship Director for the School of Medicine, Huntsville Regional Medical Campus and stood out as an effective and a devoted teacher -not only teaching students the usual course requirements but also made curricular and teaching innovations that served as an impetus to enhance student engagement and interest in Family Medicine. Under her leadership, she has “pioneered” Medication Assisted Treatment of opiates use disorder and withdrawal from alcohol and benzodiazepines for pregnant inmates with substance use disorder in the Madison County Detention Facility and this is the first Medication Assisted Program in State of Alabama Correctional Facilities. Malhotra is a board member for Not One More Alabama and has been instrumental in allowing this organization to serve as a conduit for the education and distribution of Narcan, the lifesaving opioid reversal medication, in Huntsville and Madison community. She worked diligently and with much perseverance to bring over 500 packages (over 1000 doses) to the Huntsville, Alabama area. An active member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, Dr. Malhotra also serves on various committees at Huntsville Hospital and UAB School of Medicine. Dr. Malhotra has published numerous abstracts and articles in esteemed journals and has contributed to curriculum development for family medicine residency programs. Their dedication to research and education continues to drive advancements in family medicine and public health.
